SAUDI ARABIA EMPLOYMENT VISA
Working in Saudi Arabia will require you to have an employment visa, your employer will act as your sponsor and they will apply for your employment permit from the labour office & the ministry of foreign affairs on your behalf.
Many workers in Saudi Arabia receive a 90 day work visa at the time of hire, which allows you to enter and work immediately. During this time your employer (sponsor) will convert your visa into an 'Iqama' (residency permit) enabling you to stay and work. An Iqama (residency permit) is a small credit card type that you have to carry with you at all times. It allows you to travel freely to and from Saudi Arabia, open bank accounts, hire cars, transfer money via western union etc.
The visa process is relatively simple, as your employer will take care of your initial application of the visa to Saudi Arabia and will handle the rest once you have arrived in the Kingdom.
Once the Iqama has been issued, you may apply for a residency visa (Istiqdam) to bring your wife and children. It is not possible to apply for an Iqama for a spouse and children prior to arriving in the country. In practice, employees normally arrive in Saudi Arabia first and make a visa application and other arrangements for family members. An employer will normally assist with these applications.
