Kuwait is an Arab state located in the Middle East Gulf region. It is strategically located and has huge oil reserves of up to 102 billion barrels making it one of the world's richest countries. However, it wasn't until the Al Otob tribe fled to State of Kuwait away from the terrible drought which perished the Arab Peninsula. They chose Sabah bin Jaber as their governor in 1756. As time passed, the small town of Kuwait benefited from its location overlooking the head of the Arabian Gulf and thrived through trade, fishing and pearl fishery. Hence, Kuwait became one of the most prosperous countries in the region. Since 1756, fourteen rulers from Al Sabah family ruled Kuwait. The current Kuwait ruler is Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah.
Kuwait has also been the most successful football team in the Gulf cup winning 10 tournament titles.
It is estimated that Kuwait's total population is 3,996,899 of which 69% of the Kuwaiti population are expatriates.
